Boyt - Boyt Harness Company
In 1901 Boyt Saddery was founded by the Boyt Brothers primarily manufacturing harness to equip buggies. However, the break out of World War I found the company took the opportunity to manufacture military related firearm accessories such as saddle bags and holstersfor military holsters. As well as a growth in the harness business to meet the need for horse drawn weapons and supplies.
The company took on a new name in 1925, Boyt Harness Company and the company continued making tack, bridles and harness for Midwest stockmen and farmers.
As the US entered World War II the company once again made a production shift to support the countries involvement in this conflict. Delivered to forces in Europe and the Pacific, the Boyt Harness Company turned out tons of equipment to support the war effort.
As the war came to an end, for the first time, hunting vest, gun cases, ammo bags and other sporting goods became a priority and Boyt's focus on this market meant that most of their production was focused on these products. The company was award 5 Stars for the support of US war efforts and Boyt was quick to capitalize on this recognition with their new Boyt Five Star canvas case. This product was well received and soon became known as the superior firearm storage of the day. And, now for over 70 years, Boyt has built on this success. The company acquired the Bob Allen sporting brand in 1997. Before WWII, Bob Allen was nationally known for his skills as a clay target shooter. Bob's introduced his 1st product, a unique cap with a long bill which was designed to shade the eyes of bomber crews on bombing runs to Japan's main island. And, the Bob Allen company was born when he began his unusual caps for a wartime ration of Scotch. As the war came to an end, Bob began marketing his long billed caps to the sport shooting market. And the company grew as he began selling shooting gear such as vest, bags, and hats from his vehicle as he traveled the shooting circuit. Bob is credited with bring the first vest for shooting to market as well non-military camo.
Boyt then continued their growth by acquisitions with the purchase of Rattler’s Brand snake protection and Bug Out clothing. Later they bought gun storage and personel security company - Secure Vault,as well as Mud River Dog Products.
In 2009 Boyt Harness Company introduced the Boyt H-Case series. This new product line propelled the company into the market for travel cases manufactured by the injection mold production.
Since 1901 the shooting and hunting markets have received dependable, durable clothing, accessories and equipment form Boyt. Their entire product line is carefully produces from quality materials to manufacturing methods proven by years of service.
